The service

Auto Attendant provides one business number in the United States or Canada, local or toll-free, chosen in the app at app.autoattendant.io, or an existing number transferred to the service. Which numbers are available varies by area code, so we cannot promise a particular area code or number. A spoken menu, in English, French, Spanish or up to all three, offers up to seven options; a line can instead work without a menu and go straight to one action after the language choice, if there is one. Each option does one thing: it rings up to three phones one after another (US or Canadian numbers, each for 10 to 60 seconds, never another Auto Attendant line), takes a voicemail, or plays a message and ends the call. If nobody answers, the caller leaves a voicemail. You set business hours by day; outside them, callers hear your closed message, then either leave a voicemail or the call ends. Voicemails are emailed to the recipients you choose, with the recording attached, in the business's chosen language (English, French or Spanish), and a transcript in the voicemail's own language when transcription produces text. The dashboard shows the number and its status, voicemails, calls and usage, and lets you edit, publish and restore the menu. How it works explains the call path.

The service does not provide texting, outbound calling, ringing several phones at once, call recording beyond voicemail, desk phones, apps, queues, CRM integrations, or a human or AI receptionist. Team members make outgoing calls using their own phone service. You provide and maintain the phone plans and email inboxes used as destinations.

Price, payment and cancellation

The price is $29 a month in US dollars per line (one business number), for the whole company, not per person. It is the same for customers in the United States and Canada. There is no free trial on a new number. Payment is made online through Stripe's checkout, by card or the other methods it shows, and promotion codes can be entered there. You pay online at the end of setup, and a new number goes live as soon as payment completes. A number you bring with you is not charged until it has moved.

There is no contract and no notice period. You can cancel in any month through the billing portal in the dashboard, and service continues to the end of the period already paid for. Pricing lists what is included.

If a payment fails, the line stops taking calls until the payment goes through: callers hear that the number is temporarily unavailable and the call ends, with no forwarding and no voicemail. Your menu comes back unchanged once the payment succeeds. If the subscription is then cancelled for non-payment, the number is released.

Taxes are not included: depending on where your business is, US state or local tax, or Canadian GST/HST and, in Quebec, QST, may be added. A business registered for GST/HST (or QST) can give us its registration number, which can affect whether those taxes are charged.23 Whether tax is added to your account is confirmed before the first charge.

The contracting party's details are provided in writing on request to [email protected].

Use the number responsibly

Do not use the service for robocalling, spam, illegal activity, harassment, impersonation or attempts to interfere with the network. You are responsible for the greeting and menu content you supply and for the people you choose as call destinations. You must obtain any consent required for the calls, messages or recordings in your own workflow and follow the laws that apply to you. The service does not record answered conversations.

We may suspend use that threatens other people or the service while we investigate, and will explain the reason where doing so is practical. Contact us promptly if a number is being misused.

Numbers, porting and the end of a subscription

To bring an existing business number, request the port in the app. Give accurate account information for it. The transfer requires a letter of authorization, signed online from an email sent to the person named in the request; if it is not signed within 30 days, the request lapses. Toll-free and Canadian numbers are moved by our team, which may email you for anything else the transfer needs. The transfer follows the current provider's and carriers' process: the carriers set the date, the earliest date you can request is 8 days after the request, and we cannot promise a transfer date or that every requested number can be transferred. If the current provider rejects the request, you can correct it and resubmit, or take a new number instead without paying again.

For a ported number, your payment details are saved at checkout and nothing is charged until the number has moved. Billing starts on the day the transfer completes, and the free period is extended automatically while the transfer is still in progress. Keep your existing service active until we confirm that the number has moved; we email you when you can cancel it.

After you cancel, the line keeps answering and ringing your phones until the end of the period already paid for. When that period ends, the number is released straight away and may be assigned to someone else; there is no extra holding period. To keep the number, ask us to port it out to another provider before the paid period ends. The porting guide explains the process.

Emergency calling

Auto Attendant routes incoming calls only. It cannot place outbound calls and is not an emergency service. To call emergency services, use a phone and carrier that support emergency calling directly. Do not rely on this business number for that purpose. Read the emergency-calling limits before using the service.

Availability and responsibility

The service is provided as is, without a promised uptime percentage or uninterrupted availability. Call delivery also depends on carriers, the destination phone, its coverage and the recipient's ability to answer. Configure voicemail and test the route you depend on. Tell us about a failure so we can investigate it.

To the extent law permits, we are not responsible for indirect losses such as lost business or lost profits caused by a missed or delayed call. Our total liability for a claim about the service is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. This does not limit rights or liabilities that the law does not allow us to limit.

Language of these terms

These terms are available in English, in French (Conditions d’utilisation) and in Spanish (Términos del servicio); the English version governs if the Spanish translation differs. A customer in Quebec is given the French version first, at no charge, and is bound by it unless they explicitly choose the English version after receiving it.1 For customers in Quebec, account emails and invoices are in French;1 support is available in French or English everywhere.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will post the new version with a new effective date and notify existing customers by email before a material change takes effect. Effective date: 26 October 2026.

For cancellation, porting, a service issue or a question about these terms, use contact or email [email protected]. The privacy notice explains how those messages and service data are handled.
